Criteria for Admission

The student that gains admission to Greensboro College has demonstrated by their performance during high school and/or college a commitment to learning, leadership and promise of success. 

Admissions decisions are based on many factors. The most important factor is the student's curriculum. A high school curriculum that provides good preparation for Greensboro College includes four units of English, three units of college preparatory mathematics (Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2), two units of science (including one laboratory science), two units of history, two units of the same foreign language and electives chosen from music, art, physical education, and social science. 

A college curriculum that provides good preparation for Greensboro College includes coursework in either English, mathematics, the natural sciences, the social sciences, or history.

Other factors include the student's grades, the profile of the student's high school or college, standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, or TOEFL), extracurricular involvements and the "Opportunity for Expression" (also known as the application essay). Interviews are not required but are strongly encouraged. Letters of recommendation are optional, but always welcome. 

Minimum Admissions Standards: 2.5 GPA with a 900 SAT (Math & Critical Reading) or 18 ACT (Composite Score) 

For Freshman Applicants

A completed application for admission to Greensboro College includes:

• $35 Application fee
• Application for admission completed and signed by the student
• Official High School transcript
• Standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, or TOEFL)
• Opportunity for Expression (optional)
• Letters of Recommendation (optional)

For Transfer Applicants

A completed application for admission to Greensboro College includes:

• $35 Application fee
• Application for admission completed and signed by the student
• Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended (if a transfer student has earned less than 28 semester hours while enrolled at other institutions, the student is required to provide a final High School transcript reflecting graduation and standardized test scores).
  

Qualification for Admission into the George Center for Honors Studies (Additional application is required)

First Year Students:

• minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5
• minimum SAT score of 1150 (Math & Critical Reading sections only) or a minimum composite ACT score of 25

• minimum 3.25 college grade point average
• demonstrated writing proficiency
  
• approval from the Director of the George Center for Honors Studies
  

ATTENTION:

Students who have earned an Associate's Degree from an accredited North Carolina Community College or are 23 years of age or older will need to apply for admission to the College through the Graduate & Professional Studies Office.
