Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning

At the heart of any institution of higher education is the science and art of teaching. The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning aims to assist faculty in developing and reflecting on their role as teachers. The specific purposes of the Center are to

  • increase dialogue among faculty about teaching;
  • provide faculty with opportunities to learn about and implement new approaches to teaching that will enhance student learning;
  • encourage faculty to try new approaches to teaching; and
  • support research on the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Recognizing that there is no one “best way” to teach, and that active learning may be encouraged through many avenues, CETL invites full-time and part-time faculty to participate in a variety of events and activities. CETL events draw on the expertise of faculty peers and noted authorities to present strategies for engaging students and promoting active learning, to involve faculty in reflective discussions of teaching, and to model new ways of integrating technology to enhance teaching and learning.
